What was the desired message supposed to be of this movie?
Sure, the cast is great. The cinematography is great. The music is great. But the theme and tone of the movie are so nonsensical it leaves the viewer conflicted. There is barely and redemption or consequence for all of the swearing, raping, threatening and hostility that takes place over the movie to the point where it becomes completely unrelatable. It was just a string of deplorable events all taking place after one another ultimately feeling meaningless.
Its hard to align with any protagonist or character when the script demands that they have no attributable human characteristics. McDormand does a great job on what was given to her in the script but 2 1/2 hours of rhetorical Tarantino lines to other characters and nearly all characters living out some campy stereotypes leaves MUCH to be desired.
As heartfelt as that speech was, I must say, it still contains a silly argument. There is a big difference between joining a gang which has it in their creed to commit crimes, and joining an organization that has it in their creed to do good things (Love the Lord your God, you shall not commit murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not bear false witness, do not defraud, Honor your father and mother, do unto others as you would have them do unto you, repent, forgive those who trespass against us, and you shall love your neighbor as yourself) but still managed to catch wicked and corrupt people in their ranks. In other words, if I was a doctor, and it was discovered that the hospital I work for has some wicked and corrupt doctors who rape their patients, that doesnt mean Im culpable for choosing to remain there so I can remain healing the sick.

I can't believe the negative reviews from some NALLY A MOVIE WITH A WELL THOUGHT aracters with depth,dialogue that's sharp and casting is tremendous,Woody harrellson has come so far from Cheers mcdormand depicts a woman insane with grief yet still likeable and believable.I have not seen a movie that every one in the cast,star or walkon,so believable and ending could not have been more of a depiction of the two main characters redemption and logical.I can't remember the last time I left a movie so provoked to analize,and relive every morsel of story and character you LOVE movies, this one is it.
